Used furniture? I'm looking to buy a used recliner. How much would one cost? Because I don't have alot of money but I need furniture in my basement. And where would be some good places to get one for very cheap or used?

Denali replied: "Craigslist or Kijiji are some good websites.."

Sheila replied: "I don't know if you have a Furniture factory Outlet in your area (a chain store) but they have very affordable prices on new furniture. We have bought numerous items there. Or try Big Lots."

hermit replied: "I don't know how much exactly a recliner will cost, but Craigs list is a good place to look. you can even find ads in local newspapers. Some people sell all their furniture when they move. You can find really cheap furniture in good condition. You might have to have some means to deliver it. Some people even deliver it for you."

Jim T replied: "Goodwill Store, Salvation Army, your local news paper."

catlady5838 replied: "I don't know where you live but in some areas they have something called freecycle on the Internet. The link is below. People give away what they no longer use or need, you just have to usually go pick it up. This should give you an idea if there is a group in your area.. I would also suggest to try goodwill, salvation army stores, and used furniture stores. I am not sure of the cost it could vary greatly depending on where you go to get one. Good Luck"

How to I clean used furniture? I am buying a some used furniture until I can save up for brand new couches and such. How do I clean a cloth couch and arm chair??? I mean really clean it!

eskie lover replied: "First vacuum it thoroughly to remove any dust mites from the cushions and the foundation. Then you have several choices. You can steam it clean with a rental machine or hire a company to do it for you. You can use a foam upholstery cleaner and shampoo overall and a spot treater like Spot Shot, Resolve, Method, Folex, etc. You can see whether the cushion covers are washable and launder them. But, your final step would be to hit it with Lysol Disinfecting Antibacterial Spray for Fabrics to remove germs, biohazards, and yucky stuff in general."

Michael M replied: "best is to call stanly stemer or similar and have it done professionally. you will be happy. mc. can I have a BA please"

WAYNE replied: "Steam clean it thats the best thig you can do.The steam will distroy any thing that may be in the cloth and it's a deep clean..."

dawnb replied: "Rent a steam cleaner and do it yourself or hire a pro like Stanley Steemer. Both will clean your upholstery well."

What is the best mechanism to sell your used furniture which is the $800 - $1300 range? I have a Dining Table, 6 chairs that needs to be sold. I have never sold my used furniture before and don't know where to start.

pacificwaves.rm replied: "Classifieds or ebay"

DramaGuy replied: "craigslist"

microscope replied: "Definitely Craigslist or Ebay (if you specify local pickup only). I sold my couch through Ebay, but have purchased from craigslist."

What is a good website to look for used furniture? Other than craigslist, can anyone suggest another website to look for used furniture sold by local users or stores?

Joanne A. W replied: "Check out this one:"

ladybug replied: "Check your local freecycle web site."

eagenfam@verizon.net replied: "I would suggest you can check to see if there's a list for your specific town. We have a very active list here, and I've found loads of wonderful furniture and other things."

stephanie b replied: "i love ebay. but the shipping can get you sometimes with furniture."

pcbeachrat replied: "craigslist.org..sign up for a free account..then go to your state and city of location..and there you are..alot of good stuff there..and you get to see it before u buy..here is the link heres a how to use guide after you sign up..it is all totally free "

how to sell used furniture in east bay, california? I was wondering if you guys can help me and give me some tips on how to sell a used furniture? the thing is i a moving together with my fiance and i need to sell my twin bed... i tried craigslist already... any other option? where i can drop it and get cash in exchange?

MissS replied: "craigslist.com"

JJ replied: "i would put it on ebay !!!!"

Louise replied: "gumtree.com - america . don't know if it's got CA though, try. craiglslist.org ebay.com amazon.com Just type stuff into google & see what sites it comes up with, try charity stores & 2nd hand furniture stores - usually 2nd hand places will buy from you."

EYE replied: "Craigslist ebay, Garage sale and put signs everywhere in your neighborhood that you have a Garage sale"

Takeawalk replied: "Ebay would be a pain when it comes to shipping unless you list it as "local pick up only". Ebay also takes a commission so it may not be worth your time. If you are anywhere near UC Berkeley or another college you might put a sign up on campus. The problem is frames are easy to come by for free or next to nothing at Salvation army and nobody really wants a used mattress. Maybe you could give it away. Call a local church or Red cross if you want to donate it."

Spam replied: "A nickle add or post a sign in your apartment building"

CrG replied: "Many charities will give you a receipt for what ever value you place on anything. Then you can deduct that from your income tax."

does anybody have gently used furniture that they would like to donate to help furnish a home? in need of gently used furniture(sofa loveseat) /dryer/art supplies/ art work etc for free! in georgia.

stiggy replied: "ya got money to buy a home ,go buy a couch"

Preston'smama replied: "Try. It is a group that you join by town and can look for and give away stuff instead of throwing it away or donating it to places where it will be shelved for months. Sometimes you can find stuff on craigslist as well. Good luck."

I'm looking to find some used furniture near miracle mile, anyone have a suggestion? I just moved to LA from England, and have no furniture. I need to fill an aparment, two beds couch, the works, but within a budget. Anyone know of a quality used furniture place that delivers? Any other suggestions? Thanks

pescador replied: "IKEA"

sporregar replied: "I'd suggest you check the newspaper ads for people selling used furniture. Also consignment shops and places like Goodwill and ST. Vincents. You could also get onto freecycle for your area. I don't think many (if any) dealers of used furniture deliver."

Gloria G replied: "I would go onto and search used furniture. Thats where I sell all my stuff and sometimes you get good quality stuff."

Queen of Practicality replied: "I would check out either or"

yellowcabbie replied: "You may also want to check out Good luck!"

Is there a standard for grading used furniture? What would be considered excellent, good, average, fair or poor condition and how does that translate to price? I have searched and can find no guidelines for furniture, only used books.

Butterfly Lover replied: "I think this is one of those grey areas. I have seen rubble labeled excellent condition in one antique store and true gems called fair in other. Part of the problem is anyone can be an antique dealer or used furniture dealer. Annoying, isn't it?"

Used Furniture shops in and around buffalo ny? I want to buy used furniture for my new home .Are there shops in and around buffalo like hamburg or up to rochester which are famous for selling quality used furniture at affordable prices. Please let me have addresses and phone no. Thanks in advance.

What are the best places to buy new and or used furniture? I am moving by myself into a small Studio apartment (no bedroom), where is the best places you have seen offer inexpensive furniture, new or used?

Melissa replied: "Value City Furniture. Check out their website."

Hi its me again replied: "You can find some really good deals in the Sunday paper, Look for a good sofa bed and a small dinette set and dresser. you can put the dresser behind the sofa and use it as a sofa table with a lamp. Good Luck!"

eskie lover replied: "Check Craigslist in your area, the Penney Saver if you have it, thrift stores, Ikea, garage sales and consignment stores."

I love J replied: "Value city furniture is cheap but sometimes not the best queatily. Try to find some small store around your area that are not well known. They usally have good furniture for less dough. Big brand names like Banner always cost more."

rbsb1999 replied: "If you look through it you can find some amazing things in Ikea (I'm a recent Ikea "convert"); I have heard very negative things about Target furniture; have bought some things from K-Mart which are o.k. but not that great. Try looking through Craigslist like the previous poster said but thats a place where you have to be wary as well as do the moving by yourself as I have not encountered anyone offering to bring their furniture to you. I sold my bedroom set on CL with no prob. Good luck."

justme replied: "Check the newspapers for people selling furniture, and estate sales. You can also get decent and good quality slightly used furniture from furniture rental places (i.e. Cort). I like Ikea, but it's not necessarily inexpensive. The cheapest would be Salvation Army or Goodwill, but you will probably get pretty worn stuff."

chi replied: "I don't know where you are located, but try your local Bombay Company if you have one. They are in current liquidation mode and are marking things down to close!!! Great deals!!!"

jen replied: "try goodwill, the deal with it is mostly there's crap but you can usually find enough bargains to make it worthwhile. try any used furniture store or big garage sale (not tiny ones with not a whole lot of interesting stuff). also try target, i really like their furniture, they have not too expensive compact stuff meant for dorm rooms and apartments in very cool colors."

♥Nubian♥ replied: "New furniture go to the nearest Ikea"

wattsthis replied: "for new I'd go on line and type in discount furniture + your area it's easy to compare prices, then go to the store that has what you want for what you want to pay for it. I think the very best thing to do is look at the local classified ads either on line or your local newspaper. Narrow down to areas that are more affluent and you can get good quality furniture at great prices."

Kate F replied: "It depends on where you're moving to. Most cities have at least one recycled furniture store where you can buy used, decent furniture. When I moved into my first apartment, I got most of my furniture from a recycled furniture store, and it's still in good condition. If you're moving to a smaller town, you may want to see if the nearest city has any good reused furniture stores."

Becca replied: "IKEA is amazing!! Cheap and good quality. Perfect if you like modern styles."

SASSY replied: "GOODWILL FOR USED FURNITURE"

BRIANNNA G replied: "You probaly think that i am snooty for sayong this but " I HATE USED THINGS." You never know what happed there on that nasty futcheer or clothes."

ashley m replied: "Jordan's or maybe a Rent A Center"

amy i replied: "get it now you can make payments plus they have cool stuff or furniture rejects stores they may have a minor flaw but no big deal"

svelekei replied: "depending on where you live- you should try when i lived in san diego- this was a heaven sent. i found everything i needed- in decent shape and it was cheap... good luck"

Ryan R replied: "The Alleyway behind Arbies and the flea market, find a guy nmed Ed. his nametag says Harry but trust me its a lie. Next sing all of the lyrics to Eye of the Tiger backwords to him. You'll either get some fre blackmarket furniture, or a sword in the head. But its worth it right?"

Sarah Q replied: "Ikea. Cheap and functional."

ninfragile19 replied: "Many furniture retailers have a clearance room that contains customer returns, refused special-order merchandise, floor models, etc. The prices are set below normal retail since many of the goods in clearance rooms are one-of-a-kinds that may not sell very well if it were part of the regular line-up. Worth checking out."

Cal C replied: "at a good second hand or antique shop or at the dump"

BLACKSHEEP replied: "check around thirft stores or local salvation army or goodwill.they are there to help."

Robert G replied: "Well I would check the yard sales on Sunday. You can find a whole house load of good used stuff. Especially if they are moving themselves."

sweet chick replied: "well i think the best choice is from a friend that you know vary well and make sure the furniture is good to use"

strawberryrhubarbpie replied: "craigslist!"

E M replied: "Do not go to Ashley Furniture!!!"

ortiz_roger replied: "Your best bet will always be Craigslist. Go to Craigslist, do a city search and then you can get into details about what exactly you are looking for... The best thing about it is.. Everything is local, and you can pick it up yourself and pay cash..."

Gary H replied: "If you want a bed and no living room instead of a futon or pullout sofa, you can get a cheap set of mattress/box springs from a manufacturer that has their own store, instead of looking at the double-padded mattress set that usually runs over $1000.00. You can pick up a mattress/box spring set for $200-$300, and they have the rail set with casters on the bottom if your studio has tile or hardwood, to make it easier to move and clean under. If you want a futon and no bedroom look in the studio, Walmart has one that's okay to sleep on and I think it's around $250 or so, but you have to really put extra padding (a blanket or two) under the futon mattress to not feel the framing for the bed. If you want a sofa and no bedroom (sometimes the couch ends up more comfortable to sleep on than the bed), try Big Lots if it's in your area. They have couches for $300.00, and they sit okay and are sturdy enough to last 10-15 years if needed. If you don't have a Big Lots, there must be another liquidator store that has furniture lines (most are either manufactured exclusively for the liquidator, or the liquidator assumes a deleted stock from an independent manufacturer). Jennifer Convertibles has a good price on their pullout sofas, but may not be in your area. For the best deal, though, you need to check the classifieds in the Sunday paper to look for furniture being sold by individuals. Sometimes they have the furniture for a year or so, and remodel or decide they just don't like what they've bought, and will get rid of it for almost nothing to make room for their next purchase. You can tell by the house of the seller, by the seller, and sometimes even by the neighborhood (depending on your situation) the quality of and care given to a used piece of furniture. Best of Luck!"

The Capitalist replied: "you should check out IKEA, seriously."

Judith H replied: "For used furniture, how about the Salvation Army thrift store or Goodwill? I got a really nice, comfy sofa from the Salvation Army t.s. Good luck."

ZER0 C00Lâ„¢, Vile... just Vile replied: "http://craigslist.com/"

D H replied: "Resale shops for hotel furniture have decent items. There's one called Perez Furniture which has new and used stuff. Try this place if its not too far for you too travel. Perez Furniture. 332 E Sauk Trl, South Chicago Heights, IL"

♥tawkischeap♥® replied: "World Market has great prices and very nice furniture! Or even Sears! They are having sales on mattresses now! I just purchased a queen size one this week for under $300!"

Mira K replied: "Ikea sells new furniture thats not expensive"

ninanina replied: "IKEA is the best."

Betty Boop Oop A Doop replied: "A furniture store."

mehrdad n replied: "the best places for this is big shopping centers of furniture"

potato replied: "If Ikea is in your area, GO TO IT! I know it sounds expensive because it's from designers from Europe, but gosh! It's so cheap! I love going to the strore because they have displays of rooms that you can walk into and everything. Go to ikea! And check out the website! The reason it is inexpensive is because you have to put the funiture together, but I'm pretty sure you will be able to do that! It's not that hard. Anyone can put it together. (you might need tools though...)"

txcuttie09 replied: "check garage sales, or ads in the paper. we have a "thrifty nickel" which is paper that comes out every thursday full of ads for just about everything. also try craigslist.com or gregslist.com or ebay good luck...ive been there before...also if your needing furniture just ask around at work, thats what i did and a good friend/co worker actually gave me his old but in GREAT shape, kitchen table with 4 chairs. i got a futon for about 100 bux if at target that folds out into a bed, that can be used for guests. and walmart has some cute furniture too. especially during the back to school time of year they sell great stuff "for dorms" but of course you can u use it at ur studio. good luck!"

jade_2011 replied: "I don't know your location but if you can find a CORT furniture rental ,they have really nice furniture and after they rent it once they clean it and sell it for a fraction of its value this furniture doesn't look used at all. I got a sofa, arm chair ,end table and coffee table, and a beautiful marble base lamp all for under $400. and they deliver! They had cheaper furniture too."

chandimal.perera replied: "you can buy my shop. come hear."

Robert (Bob) Warzyk replied: "why buy when you can sign up for your local "free cycle" web site and just simply ask for what your looking for."

BOB replied: "Ikea you cant beat it!!"

pompeius1 replied: "I guess that would depend on your definition of "inexpensive" and a style you are looking for IKEA is a good source for inexpensive modern furniture for students. You can also find good inexpensive brands of various styles and some with free shipping here As far as used furniture - you can probably find a good selection on eBay or - as other people already said - Craigslist which is local to where you leave."

Timmy B replied: "Big lots has surprisingly nice furniture for cheap! Many times they will have name brand things too!"

melgal replied: "when i started out i went to local recycling centres where you can pick up some real bargains!"

morningtide_mondays replied: "If you have an Ikea in your area, definately check them out. When I moved in with my boyfriend, we needed bedroom furniture and decided to give Ikea a try. We found a queen sized bed, mattress, and two matching dressers for around $700. The only downfall to Ikea is you have to put EVERYTHING together, including the lids to their pots and pans. But their prices are reasonable and if you're into modern/chic then definately give them a look through. Good luck!"

sam g replied: "you can fine a good deal when you look for yeard sale's and 2nd hand stores you can bargin with price or if you come a cross estate sale you be surprize what you fine"

sherryremy39 replied: "go to Salvation Amy or thrift stores"

genkilady replied: "try. its free. ppl advertise stuff they no longer need so you get it for free. its to save landfill and to be 'green,'"
